Your Check Should Arrive in May
With unprecedented speed and cooperation, Congress and the White House forged a deal Thursday to begin rushing tax rebates of $600 to $1,200 to most tax filers by spring, hoping they will spend the money just as quickly and jolt the ailing economy to life...
Individual taxpayers would get up to $600 in rebates, working couples $1,200 and those with children an additional $300 per child under the agreement. In a key concession to Democrats, 35 million families who make at least $3,000 but don't pay taxes would get $300 rebates.
The rebates would phase out gradually for individuals whose adjusted gross income exceeds $75,000 and for couples with incomes above $150,000. Contributions to IRA and 401(k) retirement accounts and health savings accounts would not count toward the income limit.

I Made It!
I survived buffalo chicken dip, Barbara Jeans pumpkin bread and ice cream pie!
Boy, my cousins sure know how to eat!!! That's all we did over the weekend was plan the next meal. Of course they are tiny! One just gave birth four months ago and looks great and I called the another "Yoga-Butt" all weekend. My other cousins and Aunts are also just as fit... :)

We did go down to the beach and let the children get their feet wet. It was about 50 degrees and yes, we had lost our minds, but "it was their idea!"
My Aunt from Oregon came and brought a huge box of dress up clothes that all seven of the girl cousins went crazy over! And of course they played outside on their scooters and bikes.
My sister and I go to FL quite often, even though it is FAR away. "Are we there yet?" No trip would be complete if we did not go to the FUDGE shop for ice cream!! This is a favorite for the children. big and small!!!

It's Over
This past summer I told my 10 year old (going into fifth grade) son the truth about Santa Claus. I had a hunch he knew, but he did not completely let on and I did not want them making fun of him - FIFTH GRADE and he still believed!
Tonight I am in the car with just the girls and Twin C asked if Santa gets gas and goes to the grocery store just like we do. Well out of nowhere Twin M says "Weellll NOOOO! It's Mom and Dad" <*$&*@#^$(%)@&$&!*(^$)(#%&)(_)@#)*&@^% My jaw hit the steering wheel and tears formed in my eyes. She proceeds to tell her sister that Jeremiah said he caught his mom and dad writing gift tags for his gifts and they told him it was them. Twin C says "Mom is that true? You and Dad really can't afford a Wii? Can You? There is a Santa?"
By this time I have managed to find a parking space and tell Twin C to get into the gym she is late for practice. I held Twin M back in the car and she immediately says "I was just kidding, I know there is a Santa." My response "Please do not discuss this again until we get home!" I was stunned, speechless, disappointed, angry...You get the idea.
They are in THIRD GRADE! I know they are days away from turning NINE, but its over. None of my babies believe. They aren't even babies anymore. Grown ad-dults who still live in my home, eat my food, dirty up my fresh towels. Oh my how I am having a pity party. If I could I would run to the store for some Midol and Salem Lites...
You know I don't smoke, but oh how I must be PMS. Jeremiah better be glad I do not know his last name and where he lives. Children these days...

GrandMother
Husband and I took out Friday morning headed to the big city to go shopping for the day. Nothing big in mind, just a get-a-way! His dad called at 9am to say his mother had passed away during the night. The funeral was Sunday. So we drove up with the children early Sunday morning and came back last night.
It was very sweet! She was a precious christian lady! I have no doubt she is dancin' with Jesus right now in her 18 year-old-body! Her husband was there to greet her no doubt and they are enjoying each others company once again!
We will miss you Grandmother P!

You Can't Take Discipline Too Far!
Go read this article!
'Meanest Mom on Planet' Sells Teen Son's Car After Finding Booze Under Seat.
It is great!
This Mother should be applauded! She sold her son's car after she found booze under the front seat. We should all read this article and NEVER back down once we have made a rule. (Right Honey, just like I do here at the house :))

Lesson in Lemons
Husband and I have "altered" our diet and we are very aware of everything we eat these days. I am having a problem drinking my water so I bought a lemon to slice to add to it.
Yesterday I had cut the lemon up and was cooking dinner while the children finished their homework. I went to load the dishwasher and saw four lemon wedges in the bottom of the sink. I went nuts. "Who sucked four lemons and put them in the sink?" I had three little children starring at me with big green eyes. "Not me. Not me. Not me." Daughter #1 said "I think Harley (Cockapoo) did it."
"Are your Serious? I just cut these up so I would force myself to drink water and I want to know who ate them?" This little scene went on for several minutes until it hit me. Husband had come home for lunch and I saw he had a Styrofoam cup with fruit juice in it. I busted out laughing. "I am so sorry guys. Mommy knows what happened and I am so sorry I accused you of doing something you did not do." With big smiles and giggles they asked if Harley ate them? No, your Daddy did it... They thought it was so funny that Daddy ate my lemons. I explained that he had "lunch" with his Dad and two brothers and only had ice water with lemon in it and then came home to really eat. He poured the lemons out and got the juice. They just howled at the thought that I was mad at their Daddy for sucking lemons and throwing them in the sink!
Then of course, since I had made a fool out of myself Daughter #2 (blue) said "Are you going to put that on your blog?" - YES I AM MISS PRISSY- NOW GO!!!

How to Go Organic - Where to Start?
Organic foods can put a real dent in the grocery budget.
If you choose organics to limit pesticides in your family’s diet but are concerned about cost, know that USDA testing reveals some conventionally grown produce contains more pesticide residue than others: spinach, pears, nectarines, peaches, apples, strawberries, raspberries and potatoes contain high levels of residue. Produce that is typically “unwrapped” before being eaten--bananas, corn, onions, mangos, avocados--has lower levels of residual pesticide.
Try choosing organic for those foods at highest risk of containing pesticides (like spinach and strawberries) and stick to less-expensive conventional foods for others.
Put local ahead of organic! If you have a farmers stand or Farmer's Market close by that should be your first choice. I know at our local Farmer's Market they do bring items in from other countries ocassionally, but it is always posted!

Our Children and Cell Phones
Do you know all the texting lingo? I sure do not. This is from Focus On The Family's Website. I thought it was good information to have with so many OTHER young children getting cell phones these days. My children will not be carrying one any time soon! If they are at school 8 hours a day and then I am driving them everywhere they need to go, why do they need a phone? I sure don't want them calling me telling me I'm late to pick them up!! ha
Here is the book:
Logged On and Tuned Out
A Nontechie's Guide to Parenting a Tech-Savvy Generation
Vicki Courtney
When you were their age, it was telephones and hanging out at the mall. Now the teen social world has expanded to things like text-messaging, online chat rooms and any number of Internet and digital gadgets. Here is a resource to help you understand and help protect your tweens and teens from the dangers of this new, global world.

Resolutions
Did you post up your New Years Resolutions for 2008? Every year I start out with a new diet. I think I set myself up for failure every time. Husband has a trip EVERY January that I always love to go on! Needless to say I am not going on a diet, but going to focus on changing my eating habits.
1. I am grocery shopping along the perimeter of the grocery store. I will be loaded with fruits and veggie and dairy for the children!
2. My chunky-butt is going to walk with or without my friends and not use them as my excuse for not exercising.
3. I am going to save more money than ever before. I do not know what I plan to do with all of this savings, but I know I will not be purchasing a home gym!
Tonight we ate a long grain-whole wheat rice with lots of veggies! Husband is going to take some adjusting. I am not sure if he was mad or hungry, but he went to bed at 9PM...

Happy New Year - 2008
Football, Football, Football......
We have gone from one game to another! Was it like this at your house? I am about to go to bed and we are still watching FOOTBALL.. Including all three children. Put them to bed!
So now you know what we did for New Years!!! Husband did get the wreaths off the front windows and the girls had a race down to the street to gather the Merry Christmas Signs. I guess my neighbor down the street has me beat on leaving the yard decorations out! I wonder who will win the indoor tree competition? If you do not live in my small town this may not be as funny to you.
Today has been another day in the bed. This sickness has to get better soon. 2008 is going to be a HEALTHY year! I mean it!
I thought I would include this picture on my Son. We were at a sledding park while on vacation in Colorado. He had sat in the front of the sled and had snow/ice crystals flying up on his face. While I zoomed in for the shot, he was yelling "quit taking a picture and help me." I just love that boy!
